What makes a good front cover for a magazine?

I am wanting to make a magazine for teen boys (not porn), and i would like o know what makes a good front cover? Any Help? even any examples? Thanks in advance

colours are important...hang on i do media studies...i will find something for you...don't move... here are examples of mens magazines http://www.woodstockfilmfestival.com/images/newsletters/EsquireMay-2002_sm.gif http://aphotoeditor.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/esquire-1.jpg http://msnbcmedia1.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photos/051115/051115_aniston_vmed_3p.widec.jpg http://www.textually.org/textually/archives/images/set2/gq-cover.jpg notice how the colours in both of these are quite simple, and are using tones of greys and blues...when there are limited use of colour..it makes it appear more formal, in comparison to magazines like nuts or zoo, where there are loads of different colours. also if you are making it formal use serif font.. and if you its not that formal, use san-serif which is a more modern, informal font. http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o173/fowler20/serifthing.jpg oh and here are just general things that should be included on a magazine cover...(ignore the fact that its a girls mag...it works for both genders) http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o173/fowler20/magazine.jpg i would just take a selection of different magazines and analyse them, which will help you come up with ideas hope this helped you out xx good luck

Well, one big simple picture is nice for the cover to give an idea what your magazine is about (w/e your focusing on eg.sports, girls , celebs ect). (not too busy) . and use different fonts and sizes + different colours. make sure it's large enough and that it's readable .

You need a cover with a lot of action. Cars, skateboards, games and some advice stuff maybe. The main thing is it should be bright with lots of colors to grab their attention.
