How would i start a magazine??

  • im in my second last year in school and am thinking about starting a school magazine!anyone have any tips for me on how to start!i am thinking of writing to newspapers for sponsorship so we can get it printed and we are going to run a survey to see what we should put in the magazine and also going to local shops eg. hmv and foot locker to see if they would like to advertise?anyone else got any suggestions???

    first ask for volunteers to go out as reporters and come up with a layout.check out the net for other school mag content. get the school to let u use their copying equipment. then plan your market. how much can you realistically sell it for and to who. you need to find a market outside school in the local community. the other way is make it free but you need to get local small business to support it with adverts and run a small ads column for a small charge. it is possible that the school will have some funding for this type of project so see if you can get a couple of teachers involved good luck.

Oh, it's about a school paper! I have written in and made HEAPS! The librarian had to stop one because they disappeared as soon as they were put out- and people were asking for more copies, and supposedly, they couldn't afford all the paper! But unless your school is a cardboard box, they can start you out themselves, do the photo-copies for you and let you know where you can put them out! (In a supervised area, of course! Just like a shop! More for vandalism than theft! Kids at my old school would rip up 'S-Press' just to get the paper and put the remains back! Nasty!) Of course, your mag/paper would have to be approved by somebody in authority to say so, first- or permission for it to be in a specific building by the person who looks after it!
