How much should I sell my magazine for?

How do you sell a short story to a magazine?

  • I have written a short story, and I want to sell it to a magazine. I don't know how to do this- should I write to one?

  • Answer:

some magazines accept open submissions. The ones that do usually will have a correspondence / submission address or email in the publisher statement (that's where you see the editors name, writer credits, art design names, etc.) somewhere in the first few pages of the mag. You should probably copyright the piece first.Put a C with a circle around it and write your name and date it.Then make copy's.The government has a website you can request free info on the process.Or U can do the poor mans way and mail a copy to yourself, and never open it unless you have to in court. The stamp cancellation is the proof of the date you wrote the piece. Not really binding but a least its something

Submit it as pro bono, which means that you dont want money from it, only the publishing credit.
