How can I get my magazine published?

If i have a short story how can i get it published in a magazine?

  • I have a few short stories ]and a couple of longer ones too] that i would like to be published in a magazine [and get paid for them if i could!] but i have no idea how i go about doing this. Do editors allow you to send them stories via email? Well editors want to meet me in person for a story to be excepted? Do i get paid for them if they are printed in magazines or is there no pay in this way? Thanks for anyone that can answer. Alison.

Some magazines allow for freelance writers to submit work to their magazines. This, of course, depends on what kind of magazine you're looking to submit to. There are certain magazines you can look for who ask for submissions of short stories, poems, etc. That would probably be your best bet. I'm not sure they would pay you, however, since you're wanting to submit fiction writing. Most magazines I've heard of pay a specific dollar amount per word and that is for researched articles and/or feature stories. But, I'm sure there are magazines out there who pay for short stories and poems to be submitted. But I'm not aware of any in particular. Just keep submitting to different places. You never know unless you try.

ask the editor of the magazine to read it and if they like they might publish

Depends on what kind of stories. E-mail the magazine you want it to be in [example: if you want it in j14, find the email which I think is [email protected]]

E-mail the editors of the magazine (or e-mail their Q and A) and ask them how to submit a story, and if there is pay. This way, you get the answers ahead of time, and know who not to waste your time on. As an aside fact, you should try to enter them into some of the online short story competitions. They usually pay prizes for the best ones...

I've submitted articles in a local Music magazine. While I received no monetary compensation, The rewards were far greater. I gained the respect of musicians and music lovers in the community, Musicians sent me Cds to review, I was invited to parties and given a couple of T -Shirts. Hope this helps.

It will depend upon the type o f magazine and their regulations. If you are registered with that company then you will send them via e-mail about payments you contact them personally and it will depend on the compitence of your story.Usually they prefer short ones that are captivating.
