Internship at Teen Vogue?

Should I take it? Teen Vogue Internship?

  • I'm only 14 but I've been offered an internship to work at Teen Vogue Magazine. I don't even no much about it but the guy who was hiring me said a lot of girls would kill for this job. The only problem is its a 1yr contract and for the rest of this summer I'm going to soccer camp. Besides that i go to school, He said I don't have to go into "work" until 4:30 and come at 9:00. Its an unpaid internship(most are) but i don't want to fall behind on my school work I'm a straight A student and i have to work very hard for it and i do school and club sports.Should I give up all this just for an unpaid internship at Teen Vogue? I don't even know if its worth it, but i do realize that i can actually be offered a real job when I'm done with being an intern.

    internships are great; frankly, you kill 2 birds with one stone once you take this job. you gain knowledge and insight about a potential career path and you gain experience for your resume... but, i think the one whose hiring you really likes you a lot, maybe he has a secret agenda or something... so i suppose you really should think about it... and don't regret forgoing this opportunity because you're still young, you could get more offers, i'm sure. remember things happen for a reason, maybe letting go of this chance means that you're not cut out for teen vogue, maybe you're for teen cosmo or something... hahha!... just think of the bright side of everything, ok?

First of all, you're only 14-years-old! Teen Vogue has publicly announced they have stopped accepting high school interns, only students who are in college. And Teen Vogue is very adamant about the fact that they only accept college students, so I highly doubt you got a internship offer when you're barely entering high school.

OMG, are you actually considering this!? Most girls would kill for that oppurtunity and you don't want to take it? If you don't want to do it I'm sure someone else will, so make up your mind. You could end up working there for the rest of your life! That would be so sweet!

if it will affect your school work that don't do it plus a year is a very long time for an unpaid contracted internship why would you need it anyway? are you looking to work in fashion? it sounds that your resume is very strong as it is and I would not sacrafice things on it for the sake of this internship - with your standing you'll have plenty more opportunities

If your still 14 then no. Like you said different things are more important to you right now in life. Also, focus on school and getting into a decent college. You'll have plenty of internships you can do during the college years.

it's a great opportunity, but i think u have to do what u want...if u would rather work there for the experience then go for it. if you would rather play sports or participate in after school programs, then say thank you but no thank you

wow it would be a great opportunity... but school should be your # 1 right now. and unless your planning a career in this type of field and you are planning to never have a social life then I wouldnt do it

I don't know, sounds like an awful lot of responsibility for a 14 year old. At 14 you should be concentrating on school, and everything else should be about enjoying your youth. I mean going to school 5 days a week, coming home and going directly to work unpaid at TeenVogue every night untill nine o clock? WHen will you do your homework? When will you play soccer? When will you have time to just hang with friends and enjoy being a carefree 14 year old? I know working there would probably be a great experience, but it would be ALOT of work, unpaid work, and a lot of responsibilities. And you are so young..you should be enjoying your youth!
