What's a good metal magazine?

Whats a good appropriate magazine for a teen girl whos nerdy?

  • I want a magazine that is for teen girls, but im kinda nerdy. Is there any magazine out there that would work for me? (in US plz) Oh and yeah i have no problem admitting im nerdy/geeky cuz GEEKS/NERDS rule!!!!!

  • Answer:

young lady, I do not believe that there is such a magazine out there. Nerdy magazines are for boys and fashion and glamour tips are for girls. It seems like there could be a huge market there if someone cared enough to put it together. I am no teenaged girl, but I actually have thought several times over many years that something like that would be inevitable, and probably pretty cool (in a nerdy sort of way) but it hasn't happened yet. Perhaps you should try to fill this gap. Start out with a zine, see what you can find to put in it, find a way to distribute it and get it into the hands of nerdy teenaged girls all across the land, and you will have brought something new into the world that I think many people would appreciate. Teenaged girls get a bum rap in terms of positive images of what they can do and good role models. There's just not much out there. But everybody knows that teenage girls are powerhouses and they can do anything they want to, so don't be afraid to start on it right now.

WIRED is always a good choice for a would-be nerd.

Nerds = awesome. I am one myself. :P Try Scientific American or Psychology Today. We get both at my house, and both are good reads with excellent information.

I am a nerdy twentysomething who used to be a nerdy teen girl. I love and have always loved reading magazines. As a teen, I always read Sassy magazine, which no longer exists (see links in source list for more info). When I got to college, however, Jane showed up, by the same editor as Sassy, and I have always found it amusing. They have a new editor but it is still the same magazine aimed at nerdier, artier audience than a Cosmo or whatnot. And it is usually available in grocery stores and drugstores. What I really enjoy reading, though, are the following harder to find magazines (you'll have to venture to a Borders for these): BUST (feminist women's magazine), Mental Floss (general knowledge mag.), and ReadyMade (Recycling and crafting magazine). And, I find men's magazines to have a nice combo of entertainment and nerdy articles for someone such as myself. My boyfriend gets GQ and Giant , and I always skim through those each month.
