How many underground magazines can you name?

Can two magazines share the sane name without violating copyright laws?

• I want to start an online magazine but there are two magazines that already have the name I want. Our concepts are unrelated.

  An author I know said names of books cannot be copyrighted. He wrote a novel with a clever title, and just before he sent it to the Copyright Office, a movie with the same title debuted. There are some magazines in different countries that have the same or similar names, e.g. a Japanese men's magazine is weekly "Pureiboi' that is the Japanese way to say "Playboy". If two magazines with the title you want already exist, that should show you that titles cannot be copyrighted. I have seen several sets of movies with the same titles that were quite unrelated.
