What is Norfolk like?

What is the crime rate like in Ocean View, Norfolk, VA?

  • I want to move to the Ocean View area of Norfolk. I saw some apartments there and I liked that it was close to the Ocean View shores. It reminds me a little bit of Lewes and Dewey Beach in Delaware. I just want to know what the neighborhoods are like, what places are safe, what places have more crime in the Ocean View area, etc. Just tell me everything about Ocean View, Norfolk, VA. :-D

    Ocean View isnt what it was 10 years ago. ten years ago it was ridden with crime and drugs and prostitutes. now its an up and coming area in norfolk. theres still a few rough spots but all places have that. there building all over the place there now and the market value is really good. its gonna turn into the va beach oceanfront in a few years. its nice now seriously consider it.

Go to http://www.norfolk.gov Clik on "City Services" in the grey area at top of page Clik on "Crime Incident Data" Then where it says "Neighborhood:", choose "Ocean View", then clik on "Submit". You'll be given a list of crimes committed in Ocean View in the month of July '06. This site also gives you info on Norfolk, Va....you can read up on "Ocean View", Good Luck and I hope you enjoy Ocean View

i lived in ov for several years in late 80's early 90's and it was ok then... every city has it's rough spots but u can usually peep them out while looking for a place...try going to different laundromats around town and striking up conversations...older people usually can tell you what u need to know and are most of the time safer to talk to...might want to wash clothes while there so u don't look nutty! lol i lived on d street...working class blue collar folks...but times they are a'changing so dont take my word for it!
