Would a 'W' on a transcript affect getting an internship/job with CIA?

Will a "W" on my college transcript have a negative impact on my chances on getting to medical school?

  • I really want to be a doctor but faced many personal family problems this semester which really had an impact on my academics--I have dropped one class with a "W" and will be retaking it over the summer. Will this decrease my chances of getting to medical school?

  • Answer:

If it's only one I don't think it will have that entire of an impact. It just all depends where you apply too. If you have good grades, MCAT scores, volunteering, and experience (shadowing a physician), I am sure it will not be a huge impact.

Unless the school is realpy being an @$$hole about it, one or two Ws aren't going to kill your chances. People typically understand not everything can be learned in one semester, especially if the student is new or returning after a long break. I would not fret about the W.
