What should I start to learn first to know how to play a Piano?

  • Hi, guys and ladies, I really really want to learn how to play a Piano, currently at the moment I do not posses a Piano, but I am currently soon going to get one. So right now I'm doing some research online, to know the notes of a Piano Keyboard, but, what would you guys suggest? What should I start on in order to know how to play a Piano? Please I would really love help from people who do know how to play the Piano, and anyone one who is willing to help me. I would highly appreciate if anyone would give my tips/advices on what should I study first, then next and so on. Also if you guys know any good sites, that is free, to research and study about Piano (How to play) and site them on you're response to my question, I would really appreciate that also. Thank You !

  • Answer:

Start with some Hal Leonard books. If you can't find those, then find a beggining paino book. Learn some scales, thats should help you with learning the notes. Don't start playing songs right away, because you WILL get frustrated. trust me. I've been playing piano for 8 years. When I first started, I wanted to play really complicated pieces right away, but It just made my learning worse. Just pick up a beggining piano book, a good scale book, and an easy song book. Piano is really a good base instrument. Piano makes it easier to learn other instruments in other words, so its a great choice! Hope you love PIANO!

As a pianist, the first thing that you should know is hand yoga. All the lessons in the world won't help if your hands are 'stony.'

What?

a lot of kids play heart and soul...its very catch and fun :] and you can jazz it up with you get better by repeating some of the notes and speeding it up like my choir teacher :] you can play it as a duet, so you can learn each peice, then you can also play it together

First you need to learn music theory, how to read it, scales etc. Not having a piano is a good thing at the moment, so you won't be distracted while your learning. Unless your a musical genius who can play by ear, you really need to learn this stuff to advance beyond "beginner"

I am sure www.youtube.com has some great tutorials for playing the piano. Usually a keyboard comes with little stickers that have the notes on the keys and also a starting tutorial. First you need to learn your scales. Second, buy a cheap book that has easy songs. You can get them at a music store (try looking where you got your piano) and start playing easy songs. practice regularly. Move ahead as you get better. Also, if you know any songs that have a piano in them, try different notes and see which ones match the song. Example: Figure out the tune to twinkle twinkle little star on your piano to start out with. Hoie this helps and good luck!
