Whats the difference between an aim and an objective?

    The aim is the same as a target. The target is what you actually aim for. During that aim you need to go through certain processes to achieve that particular target. An instance is where a supermarket aims to make a profit of a figure that the board agrees on. To achieve that target there will be certain issues to attract the customer to spend more in the store. These are the objectives of how you will encourage people to spend more in the shop and how you will promote that attraction to customers. The objectives could be promoting food sales like discounts etc. Putting sweets by the check out's. These are all objectives to strive for the aim. This is just an example but it can apply to many catagories. A personal aim is buying property, therefore the aim is to invest for later life. The objectives can be earnings, maintenance of the property to maintain the value, renting the property out if you want but the aim remains the same.

Not much. An objective is a firmer thing - it is the end product you plan to achieve - "our objective is to finish the project on Thursday" - ie. this is what we mean to do. By contrast, "we AIM to finish the project by Thursday" implies a lesser degree of certainty - as in 'we're going to do our best, and hopefully it will be done by then.'
