What are the IB option requirements for MEDICINE?

  • I have to make my IB subject choices tomorrow and I'm still not sure with my choices. I am thinking about... Higher Chem,Bio and Econ Standard Eng,Maths and Span i chose econ and standard maths because if i do fail as a doctor, i have this as my backup job:D I also know i'll probably have to work like a no life for IB next year but i just want to know what are the points requirements for medical universities? and people say you have to take HIGHER MATHS if you want to get into a medical school...so do you? please helpp

    You don't actually have to take higher maths for medicine. You should probably write down a list of colleges which you would apply too and see their requirements, every university has different requirements as well as how many IB points you should have at the end of your tests. For medicine I would say your options are fairly good, because you have chemistry, biology and maths. If you are really dedicated you should try doing chemistry and biology higher, I am doing bio higher and it is easier than chemistry higher, also it covers the chemistry basics about life in biology too. If you were to be doing higher chem and bio then you should do economics standard. My school only allows most students to be doing 3 highers, but if you are previously qualified you can do 4 highers.
