How To Organize a Presentation at an Elementary School?

• So, last night I was thinking how more and more girls are becoming self conscious about their appearances, and how that has effected my generation greatly. Well, I came across this site called www.dosomething.org and how it encouraged kids to take action for a cause they support. I realized that I wanted to do something (no pun intended, haha). I asked a few friends, and they offered to help me out. I wrote this to describe the problem that this project addresses: The problem is that more and more young girls are becoming self-conscious about their appearances. The media has a big influence on girls and what they are “supposed” to look like. The message that the media is sending to young girls by using skinny and beautiful models is that you have to look perfect to be considered “pretty.” We are trying to redefine the public’s meaning of beautiful by engaging girls in activities that encourage self esteem, respect, acceptance, honesty, and other important values. We celebrate the things that make every girl unique. Our goal is to teach these girls that you don’t have to be every one's definition of beautiful to truly be beautiful. First off, I'd like you guys to tell me if this is a good idea. Secondly, I want to know how I could get my old elementary school to let us put on a Presentation for the 4th and 5th grade girls and pass out flyers, so that we can get the word out. We really are excited for this project, and if it goes well we might look to expand. By the way, we're 13 and in 7th grade, if that helps. Thanks! c:

  that's a great idea. im sure if you approach the principal and explain what it is you'd like to do, and why you think its a good idea, im sure they would love to support you and would allow you. good luck.
