What are some similarities and differences between the EU and globalization?

How does education in the european union and the us compare?

  • what are some similarities and differences in education in the eu and the us?

  • Answer:

It depends which country in Europe - it is a big and diverse place. However, very generally speaking: Main schooling in both is from 5 - 18 with college after that. However, European students tend to specialize in subjects earlier. For instance, UK students have to choose a subset of subjects to focus on at age 14 for exams at age 16 and then an even lesser set have to be chosen at age 16 for exams at 18. It has often been said that this and the aggressive pace in college means that by 18, European students are much better educated, but by 22 at the end of college, the differences even out between Europe and the US.

I agree with the guy who answered first. I'm French and that's what I read (I studied English at uni). But even if it's true that in France we specialize at 15 (or 16), we still study everything but not at the same level (I had 7 hours of philosophy but people who do scientific studies only have 3 or 4). I don't know about the other countries but I think it's pretty much the same. They are trying to harmonize (is that English?) European curriculum but it will take a while. I think in Europe we focus on knowledge whereas in America it's more about know-how (of course, both are taught in each continent)
