What GCSE grades are necessary to get into Imperial College?

Can anyone give me advice on how to help me get the grades i need?

  • I'm going to college in September and I've chosen to do performing arts level 3 diploma which means i need 5 A*-C's to get on my course. I am currently taking a Creative and Media course at my school and if i pass that then I'll already have enough grades to get into performing arts but I'm almost certain i wont pass it. Other than my Creative and Media diploma i have 6 other GCSE subjects so I'll need to pass 5/6 of my subjects. I'm not the brightest of sparks and really struggle to concentrate in class and also find it hard to remember what I've revised, have you got any tips on how i can succeed in getting on the performing arts course?

Hello Cross, firstly and foremost. Don't panic. You grades can be easily boosted with a few simple tricks and tips. And some determination! :) Firstly, dont consider yourself less bright, because scientifically, we can create new neural bonds and reinforce them through repetition and memorising! Try to revise In shorter more frequent intervals, studies show that we remember more of the beginning and the end of what we've studied! So it pays out more to be more frequent for shorter durations of time. Also, try chewing some gum when revising at home, it stimulates sections of your brain linked with memory! Secondly, mentally go through things you have revised, this seems a bit odd, but just remembering that one chemical equation mentally might be what you need to refresh your memory on the whole topic! Thirdly, try moving somewhere in class which is less disruptive, or if that dosent help ask your teacher for a timetable of units that you'be studied and will study for the test. And get a head-start at home. Try to mix up your revision a bit, just remember these few ways we remember: -Repetition -Chunking ( Breaking data down into smaller parts) -Through sensory memory. (Take for example, if you wear a perfume while revising, the you smell it a few days later when you sit the exam, you'll subconsciously link that to your studies, which will help to vibrantly bring back the topic, smell is the best sense to use). Also, find out how you learn best, some people learn best through reading and writing. Other are more active learners. I'm sure there are some tests online which can help you identify. :) I wish you all the best. And remember, nothing is impossible unless you perceive it to be so. I hope I've helped! - Clueless

I have a good way of revising, basically read a page of revision, then turn the book over and write what you can remember, check it, then do it again. Do this over and over until you remember what you need to learn. Also, listen to a certain album in the background every time you revise a certain subject, then when in an exam you can concentrate by listening to the song in your head, helping to remember what you learnt when you listened to that album. It works for me :)
