What would be better, the IB program or a magnet?

Should i drop the IB program?

  • I'm currently a Junior in high school. IB has stressed me out SO much. All this bullshit assignments that will absolutely not help me out no way in life.... I'm just over it. IAs= pointless CAS=something for us to do just to do it EE= something to do over the summer. IB takes over your life without a doubt. I'm so unhappy. Every time someone asks me what classes I'm taking, i say IB, they say what? Barely anyone knows about IB. This is why i want to just take AP classes for my senior year of high school and actually enjoy life. The schedule I'll have next year w/ IB: IB English 2 IB Spanish 2 IB History 2 IB ITGS HL IB TOK (half days... I've been told that IB kids are often given some reason just so they can't take half days and it's ridiculous) My schedule without IB: AP Literature AP Statistics AP Psychology Weigh Training (maybe, or another AP course, idk yet.) (half days for sure) AP kids are giving so much freedom. I know a lot of people outside of IB, so it's not like I'm going into nothing. I'm not socially awkward or anything like that. I could also take jump start if i drop IB to get some credits out of the way. People make IB such a big thing, but it's really not. AP gets more results in the states. IB is a great thing if you're international (UK, France, etc.)

  • Answer:

I'm not recommending you what to do because it's your decision. At my current school we have the IB program and I have lots of friends who are part of it. Half want to drop because they don't see a point in it. Why? Well I went to this IB assembly and there was some kids who alrady graduated and from what they told us, very few colleges accep IB credits, yet they accep AP instead. Conclusion? It would be dissapinting to spend all 4 years stressing your self out wth IB, only to find out that the college you want to attend maybe accepts 1/4 of your credits. I'm not an IB kid but my fiends are and I've seen them stressing out. But I've been an AP student for 2 years now and I love it. Yes we do a lot of reading and writing but we get at least 1 homework assignment in a week. Hope it helps, if you got anymore questions feel free to email me!
