How can I become a real estate appraiser?

What do I Have to study and where to become an appraiser for Real Estate? Thank You!! Appreciated.?

    It really depends on what type of real estate you want to appraise. You can do residential or commercial. Generally its easier to become a residential appraiser. Residential appraisals GENERALLY range from $200-$500 per job and take anywhere from a day to several days to complete. Commerical appraisals GENERALLY range from $500-$50,000+ and take several days to several weeks. There are state licensing requirements that vary from state to state so you should check with your local department of licensing to get the facts. The Appraisal Institute is a great source for infomation on the industry, classes, requirements, etc. Good luck!

From my understanding you will have to work for a licensed appraiser until you have enough experience to get your own license. It is a minimum of 2 years, more if its not residential. This being the case you might want to find someone that you can work for and then ask them what they want. Nothing beats a happy employer. You will need to complete your education as well. Again how much depends on what type, I think residential is 180 hours. I would highly recommend talking to your prospective employer about lining up a job ahead of time and “just helping out” until then. Might be hard to swing, but knowing what you are getting into sure beats going to school and then realizing you don’t really enjoy it. You should start researching your market, a new website just out this week that will help you is www.zillow.com. They are the online version of what you want to do for a living.
