How Can I get Home Schooled Online in Canada?

Will I get lonely and bored being home schooled?

  • Today was my last day of regular school. I am 15 and a sophomore in high school. Starting in January after Winter break, I will be home schooled. All though technically I should call it home hospitalized. I was diagnosed with severe depression and generalized anxiety, and I won't get too into detail about that. But my psychiatrist and I both liked the idea of being home schooled to help me get better. It's hard to explain... But any how, I want to know what it is like to be at home all the time. And if you get super bored. Will I be able to sleep in at all? Thank you for answering my question God bless=]

Lexi- I'm not sure if this will answer your question or not, but I think being homeschooled is all about what you make of it. It sounds like you have people that care about you a great deal and that will help. If you tell them what you need to be successful, I'm sure that they will do what they can, but it's ultimately up to you. I was not homeschooled, but I am a homeschool mom. I know that it's a choice made out of love for my children and if they were feeling lonely, I'd do what I could to fix it. On a positive note, my kids have never indicated that they were lonely at all. They have as many friends as any kid and their social lives exhaust me! :) Look around your community for homeschool groups. They LOVE new members. I'm sure you will find plenty of friends. You might also want to think about making friends outside of what you would normally have. Many kids in high school have friends that are the same age and from the same background. Look outside that sphere. Is there an elderly neighbor that would greatly appreciate some company? Do you know adults who wouldn't mind you hanging around? How about volunteering for a local organization? Find a cause that is dear to your heart and put your energy into it. When you are helping others you make a multitude of friends and it is much easier to see all the good in your life and yourself. I know I didn't give you a simple "yes or no" answer, but I don't think it's possible to. Good luck on your journey. I hope you find all the friendship you can handle and yourself in the process.

YES I wish I had never done it. I'm stuck back in my grades. I can relate, but homeschooling will make it worse. Thats from my experience.

YES. When I was your age I started. I got so freaking behind in credits because it made me ten times lazier. I was bored to no end. I ended up going back for junior year - I couldn't stand it. Don't do it. My anxiety (which I didn't really have before) intensified tremendously. There's a lot less social interaction which may have aided with my "alone thoughts." Haha. Seriously, it sucked.

First thing you should know is You SO can sleep in!!! I'm around the same age as you, and yes it can be boring. Now don't glum cause home schooler still can have fun! Facebooking, making new friends at church, keeping up with your friends on your cell, but my fav is that I'm in a home school group! I LOVE my groups cause I can still make friends and show off my fashion and stuff! Just have fun, relax, and maybe try a new look!

Honestly yes you will. its important for teenagers to be social at your age. i am erribly sorry that you are going through all of this. if you feel that this is the best option for you than totally go for it. it won't be as bad if you go out and interact with others your age. who knows it may even help with your depression.
