What is the difference between biotechnology and microbiology?

First of all thanks for answering my question! As for urs is conserned there is no Clearcut defination of biotechnology and there is a very narrow distiction between biotechnology and microbiology. Microbiology as it is very clear deals with the study of microorganisms where we study various aspacts of microorganisms including the discovery of new ones.Where as what i define biotechnology as a "TOOL-BOX" which we can apply to any living organisms to manupulates its genetic material so as we can apply it to study and analise various aspacts of micro organisma also. Biotechnology is a technology based on biology, especially when used in agriculture, food science, and medicine. and Microbiology is the study of microorganisms, which are unicellular or cell-cluster microscopic organisms. This includes eukaryotes (with a nucleus) such as fungi and protists, and prokaryotes (without a nucleus) such as bacteria, protozoa and viruses (though viruses are not strictly classed as living organisms).

Biotechnology is the technology for the welfare for mankind by using processes of micro-organisms For example .Manufacturing of insulin using bacteria .antibiotics , enzymes etc On the other hand Microbiology is the STUDY or Micro-organisms or organisms that can only be seeen with help of mircoscope .
