Possible Controversial Science Topics?

How can I become very smart in science, Math (algebra1 and beyond), know about different topics?

  • Right now i take algebra 1. Next year i am taking geometry. my algebra skills are decent and i would want to get better at math and learn more advanced stuff that my class mates and be ahead of my class. I would like to read science books that can teach me more topics. i would also like to know where i can learn more topics that can make me smarter.

  • Answer:

The best options are to take additional classes. (As Hale mentioned) Algebra II & Geometry, Math Analysis, Applied Mathematics. Check with your guidance counselor, your school or others in your county may offer math during the summer. Also check with your local Junior/Community College. They will often let high school students take classes during the summer to get ahead. Also do a search in your area for Math Summer Enrichment. Some are offered at YMCA's and library's, and may be free depending on your family's income. Best folks to check with are guidance counselors and the librarian at the county library.

Here's a neat trick that I did: Try to take Algebra II AND Geometry at the same time! It turns out that Geometry is really just applied Algebra II, and Algebra II is just theoretical Geometry. If you take them both at the same time, they reinforce each other, and both are easier than if taken separately.

As far as math goes - I can give you two of the main rules that you have to remember above everything else: RULE #1 - THE WORD "PEMDAS": Remember this weird little word "Pemdas", and remember how it's spelled: P-E-M-D-A-S. This little word will help you to accurately solve any math problem that you have, because it's your ORDER OF OPERATIONS: P=Parenthesis, E=Exponents, M=Multiplication, D=Division, A=Addition, and S=Subtraction. Remember that word "PEMDAS" whenever you get stuck on solving an expression or translating a word problem and you'll be in the pink! If that's to hard for you to do - then flip it backwards and remember the expression "Sad Mep", and then remember to reverse that phrase. Remember that PEMDAS gives you the six steps that you have to follow to solve any expression. RULE #2 - The Three Rs (R.R.R.); The Three Rs are "REDUCE, REPLACE, and RESOLVE". Reduce everything down (following the rule of PEMDAS), Replace through cancellation of like variables where terms are multiplied against their inverse [ Like (x/1)(1/x) = 1], and then solve the broken down / simplified expression. Those are the main two rules of mathematics, remembering them is like having a key that can open any lock. Actually you can learn more about other science topics right there on your computer, or - even better, you can get INSPIRED to be more interested in science by visiting museums (natural science museums, aerospace museums, etc.). People become very good at WHAT THEY LIKE THE MOST TO DO, AND WHAT THEY ARE INTERESTED IN! Get interested in science, learn to love science, and before you know it - your a "genius"! Keep hitting those text books!!!

I know what you mean. If I were you, I would visit your local library. Next year I will be studying chemistry in science, so I got a book on the elements. There are also many resources online that you can use, you just have to look for them.
