What are some good activities for preeschoolers?

Girls 9-12 years old. Activities?

  • Hi All, I lead a small group (around 15) of 9-12 year olds in activities for an hour a week and need some ideas for some activities to run with them for the rest of the year. We need some activities to fill the criteria so that they can get their badges. Any ideas would be wonderful. All activities need to run for 6 weeks unless stated. 1. Physical activities. No limitations except we meet in the evenings and it can be dark so preferably inside. 2. Social - 3 weeks. This can include anything that increases the social awareness of the children 3. Educational. We have already run a 3 week block on growing bacteria and experiments into how well hand washing works so another 3 week block to complement this learning is needed. 4. Other. If you have any ideas of any good 1-2 week fill in activities then that would be great. Thanks so much for your helpful suggestions. :)

How about something like baking. You could start out with something simple like cut and bake cookies, and work your way up. I used to love to help my mom or older sister bake. Also you could get some cheap material, and some patterns and they could make their own clothes.

What about going to a nursing home, spca, day care center, etc. You could put in a dance tape and do different dance moves or exercise/yoga tapes.

How about beginner lessons in cross stitch, crochet, knitting, etc...? If they end up making things, they could donate the items to hospitals or nursing homes where they can also socialize.

i agree with the baking aspect of what some one above me said. you should also try volunteering in a soup kitchen or something. that should make them socially aware
