Good Medical Career with just a Bachelor's Degree?

Do you think I should get a full bachelors degree on a safer career or follow my dream to become an actress?

  • I'm currently jugling so many carreers at once. I'm a part time make up artist, aspiring actress and singer/songwriter the problem is I'm also a student getting my technical/vocational diploma on Marketing (Business Administration) and a brief concentration on Public Relations. I'm really talented, I've won many singing contests and lead roles on plays and Musicals. I'm also very good making publicity campaigns for products and I've won many competitions in the DECA Club (Marketing association). I'm good at that too. Even though I'm really good with the carreers I've been pursuing, I just want to be a famous Hollywood actress! I'm only 17 and I feel like I need to make a decision before graduation. Should I get an associate's degree instead of a bachelor's in Business Adm, Marketing so that I can move to LA and start auditioning and then if it doesnt work out I'll have a career to fall back on?

    Do the smart thing and try both. If you get your degree, then later don't make it big in acting, you'll have something to fall back on. If you don't have a backup like that, you'll have a hard time getting back on your feet. And if you do make it big *crosses fingers* then it was better to be safe than sorry! Good luck!

Get your degree but also pursue acting on the side. It's harder going back to school after you've been away for awhile.

follow your dream now. if it doesn't work, then go back to school. you're only young and beautiful once

I suggest getting your bachelors degree while you work in community theatre. That way you can build a portfolio up, and if you have tallent for it, someone may notice you, and you'll be more developed as an actress when the opportunity comes, if it does.

You are 17 But you do not have to make this a final decision till you are sure what you truly want. but If it were me I would follow my dreams with all my heart but have a great career to fall back on that I am good at and enjoy doing.

Follow your dreams and become an actress. You can always go back to school and finish public relations later. You'll never be happy doing something that is not your passion.

Well, I would say pursue your acting dream, but make sure you have something to fall back on, preferably also something you love. No, definitely go for your Bachelors and then your Masters. Acting, until you become a pro, is something that, like music, should be a side career. Meaning you can pursue it as a career, but have something more practical to do as your main job, something preferably where other people will benefit from your work, not just you. Trust me, I know of which I speak. I am a musician, graduated from college with a BA in music and I have my regular job and I do music on the side. And even one of the best American composers, Charles Ives, was primarily an insurance salesman who did music on the side and even he agreed it was best to have a practical primary job with music as a secondary job. The same applies to acting. And just remember, fame is not all its cracked up to be. I mean, look at Kurt Cobain and River Phoenix and them...Were they happy people? And yet, they were very famous. By the way, the tarot and psychic crap...its just that. CRAP. IT'S BOGUS. DON'T LISTEN TO THEM.

Definately go for your Bachelors. It's more secure than being an actress (which you can do, but don't let it be your primary focus).
