How do the Americans write out the date in full?

  • I know the format Americans write the date is month/day/year but what is the grammatically correct way of writing out the date in full, with commas, etc i.e. August, 11, 2006 or August 11, 2006 or August, 11th, 2006 or August 11th, 2006?

Some do 8/10/06 I know some that do 8-10-6 The proper way is August 10, 2006 (the adding of the nd or the th is optional)
