Can you help with my cover letter?

Can someone help me with writing a cover letter for a scholarship I am applying for?

I am applying to a scholarship from the college (Health, Environment, and Science) that I belong to at my university. One of the requirements that is needed to be included is a cover letter that states my academic and career goals. As I am writing my cover letter I feel that it is written as an essay. I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions how I can relate it back to the scholarship or close off the letter (besides saying thank you and giving out my contact information)
