What are the duties of a deck cadet?

Hello friends can girl join in merchant navy as deck cadet in shipping?

• i want to join as deck cadet in shipping.but my problem is that i am doing diploma in eletronic 3rd year can i apply for it.if yes then how plz help any one working as marine engg from shipping industries.i am a girl and really intrested in work in ship.

  yes you can join merchant navy but for deck cadet your age should be between 17 to 20 year during your training , this training organise by institute which is affiliated by govt of india, but its better you do course under company sponsorship like shipping corporation of india is organised this type of course author shipping company like univan, fleet management, great eastern shipping,anglo eastern shipping they all are provided this type of course. cadet course is 1year course and 24 month you served on ship as a deck cadet and you have to do distance learning program course on board you have to maintain cadet record book as well. in distance learning program you have to finish you task and show to chief officer if you are perfect in this task then chief officer sign on your record book. beside study you have to do every thing on board, this one is very tough training . you face rough wather seasickness. you know how to chip the ship after how many coat of paint you apply on ship surface so you know how to paint also, you have to do greasing . you know all seamanship. you are cadet so you have to attend forward station, if you can fase all this thing then you join merchant navy.
