How can I prepare for a good interview?

Can you give me some tips on how to prepare for and how to perform in an interview?

  • I AM DOING FINAL YEAR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING .. I HAVE AN INTERVIEW ON 3RD JUNE.. THIS IS MY FIRST INTERVIEW... SO I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BETTER TO ASK YOUR WORTHY TIPS WHICH WOULD HELP.. PLEASE DO CONTRIBUTE..

  • Answer:

If there's anyone here that can answer this question it's me. I have had over 20 jobs. Looks bad on the resume, but I am 20for20 in interviews. Have never been turned down. The main thing is that people get themselves all phsyched out, and you shouldn't be. I go into every interview thinking I already have the job, and treat my interviewer like a friend, instead of a boss. It's all about confidence. If you take over the interview, it's a breeze. Research the company you are interviewing for. They will ask why you want to work there. You will be asked to tell a little about yourself. You can dive into a little personal stuff to show that you're not nervous. And the famous one, "why should we hire you?" Best answer: "Well, I am a hard worker. Now, I know that every person you interview is going to say that, but not all of them mean it. There is no one that wants to work and learn here more than I do, and that's what makes me better than the rest." Confidence Confidence Confidence

The most significant fact that I discovered during my interview was that during the tecghnical interview, they ask very simple, fundamental stuff, not the more tricky aspects of your subjects... So read up on basic topics, say pumps. And the sad thing with the technical interview is that, its very difficult to impress them with your knowledge ( they've been in the field for years, probably), but very easy to cut a sorry figure. In my interview, one person messed up in a question on absorbers ( that's a very fundamental chem. engg. topic). That did it for him. So my foremost advice to you, is to make your basics strong. As far as the HR interview (I hope you know the slang. HR is Human Resources- the non-technical part of the interview), goes, every interview has its own strategy. The best one would be to maintain a non-confrontational, relaxed approach. Don't try to be flamboyant. Take your time, Speak slowly. It helps you keep calm, avoid mistakes, gives you time to think of what you're going to stay and also helps prevent stammering. All the Best!

I used to work in recruiting and was always impressed by people who came in knowing a lot about our company (easy to do these days with the internet.) But don't just recite something you read on the website, talk about how the company's direction matches your skills. Also, when they ask if you have any questions don't just say "no" or ask "when will I hear back?" A couple good questions you can ask are, "what will be the first priorities for someone stepping into this position?" and "how is success measured in this position?" Good luck!

Hello, Now, the first thing you need to know is that interviews were created to select people to jobs. So avoid any paranoia about not being selected and failing in it. I will give you some tips which should be useful. 1) Dress well. i.e. not too fancy just a mix of comfort and formality. 2) Wish the interviewers. You ought to impress them with your politeness and etiquette. 3) Research about the company well and do ask questions when you are given the chance, it shows your interest. 4) Do prepare a list of possible questions and try to give a good answer to them. 5) Do remember there is no such thing as the right answer. So be truthful and sincere. 6) Follow up after the interview and do remember to thank them whatever the outcome. Remember that if you are worth it you will definitely succeed.
