What does it take to be a freelance animator?

What A-Levels do I need to take in order to be a computer animator on films?

  • I want to be a graphic designer or an animator or something when I'm older (I want to work on animated films such as Ice Age, Kung-Fu Panda etc, those type of films) and I have to choose 4 A-Levels to start in September. My school don't offer a Graphics A-Level or anything (I will list the closest ones in a moment). Another career path I would like to go down is acting. I have narrowed my A-Levels down to: Art & Design, English Language (apparently it goes really well with Media Studies), English Literature (because apparently most universities require this in order to take Drama), ICT (because it's the closest thing to Graphics as far as I'm aware, you get to design a website), Media Studies, Product Design (apparently you study the computer side of things at A-Level?), Psychology (because apparently it goes well with Media Studies), Theatre Studies. Also my school don't offer an A-Level in English Lit & Lang. Also, apparently Media Studies isn't a respected subject, and I understand why if you wish to get into a university such as Oxford or Cambridge, but is it well respected if you want to study film at university? What jobs can you get with an A-Level in Media Studies? Also, I want to study Graphics or Animation at university but as I have said my school don't teach it so how can I get good enough at it before I go to university in 3 years? Please choose the best 4 for me to take in order for me to pursue a career in animation or acting! Thanks! :-)
