What is a good online school for an associates in electronics technology?
-
I was wondering if anyone could name a good online school that has an online associates degree in electronics technology or something a long those lines. I already know about devry and phoenix and people say they aren't that good. A campus college is not an option. My job requires i fly to different states on a weekly basis. Im not interested in the paper as much as i am interested in if they can just teach me basic electronics. The company i work for will train me for a little over a year i just need some ground knowledge of terms and such to build off of.

i agree with the other answer that says online might be okay if you only want to learn the information and don't want a respectable degree for the degree itself. The alleged graduate of an online program may have hired an impostor to take the courses. As a result, ANY online program is considered questionable-even if from a legit school. Employers often reject ANY online degree and ANY for-profit school. Even if your current employer accepts an online program, if you change jobs or employers they may not. See RipOffReport.com for reviews of schools to avoid. Another option would be blended classes where you study online, but all tests or lab work requires actual classroom attendance. A photo I.D. is required to enter the classroom. This helps prevent students cheating by hiring an impostor. Such programs are far more credible than online-only courses. You would also only be required to have actual attendance a few times each semester. Because of some of the hands on issues in electronics technology, actual classroom attendance could be even more vital than in other studies. Visit a local public community college to see what they offer. Actually visit the community college to sit down and talk to an academic adviser about your goals. They may offer blended courses that have both credibility and convenience. Whatever you decide, good luck!

To work as an electronic engineer you will need a bachelor’s degree or higher. The good news is that online degrees that can prepare you for a job as an electrical engineer are readily available. There are online degree programs at two and four year online electrical engineering schools that incorporate hands-on training into their curriculum.

You are one of very few people who actually has a good reason to be attending an "online" school. As you have already discovered, most of them are "not that good." Since the "paper" is not all that important to you and it is actually the knowledge you want, there are a couple of ways to investigate possibilities. One is to ask for help from the personnel department of your company. Find out which, if any, online school credentials would be accepted. Since the company is willing to train you, they certainly know what kinds of backgrounds work out well. If the company doesn't offer any suggestions, your next course of action is to get a confirmation in writing from someone in authority (either the personnel manager or the supervisor who will approve your training program) that whatever preparation you take will be accepted. Explain that you will take only those online courses you need in order to prepare yourself for the company training program, then shop by price. Pretty much all "online" courses have the same set of limitations and shortcomings, so go with whichever one will cost you the least. You won't have a degree, and you will not be able to "transfer" any of the credits to a real college, but that won't matter, so pick whatever will be cheapest.
