How do you feel about the confederate(rebel) flag?

• I want to get a tattoo on my side tht has the confederate flag and the american flag connected. The reason is: 1.im from the south(born and raised) and the confederate flag is the souths flag so i want to show pride tht im a southern girl. 2.i want the american flag to show tht im a proud american. I was telling my friend today at school about it and some boy just had to nose into my conversation and he said tht i would be racist if i did tht. Like what??! i know tht "some" people get offended about the confederate flag bc the south supported slavery..but tht isnt my problem or fault.. it doesnt happen anymore so why does it matter? I honestly told him that if someone doesnt like that then they can get the H*ll out of the south and if they dont like the american flag they can get the H*ll out of america. Sh*t has changed since tht has happened in the early 1900's. I also told him he needs a history lesson. Lol...i live in america, and last time i checked, we have a thing called the 1st amendment hahah. So what are ur guys' opinions? And in all respect, am i right about what i said?

  the thing is you gotta remember the confederate flag still offends a lot of people,to a lot of people outside the south it means treason, and to a lot of people from the south it brings up bad memories, and it has been used as a racist symbol even now there's nothing wrong with being proud of being from the south or being proud of the south's history and of course you werent born when slavery happned but you have to remember if you get a confederate flag tattoo you'll always have to be explaining it, if someone gives you the chance to explain it and doesnt just write you off as racist so of course you have that right and yes a lot of people are ignorant of the history of the south (I am too, I'm from new york and we're stereotyped a lot too) but it might be a distraction from what you really want to say with it
