Decent GPA. Higher SAT. UVa?
-
I had all A’s freshman and sophomore year. I had a 4.2 cumulative (weighted) at the end of sophomore year. I had tough times in beginning of junior year and got a 2.68 for the first semester. I now have a 4.0 (weighted) GPA. I’m working on fixing it. But I still have a few B's. However even ideally if I could improve my grades, I could only go up to around 4.1ish. My SAT is 2060. Reading (630) Math (700) Writing (730). I plan on retaking it. I haven’t taken any subject tests yet. Any suggestions on which ones I should take? EXTRACURRICULAR -Model UN -Policy Debate -Academic Competition Team -FBLA -Math & Science -Piano (since 6th grade) LEADERSHIP -Model UN VP (Maybe president in senior year) -Academic Competition Captain - Policy Debate Lab Leader (Maybe a captain in senior year) VOLUNTEERING -25 hours at library (2 years ago) -50 (and counting) hours at INOVA hospital at (Hospital Elder Life Program) ***I plan on volunteering about 20 hours per week during the summer at a nursing home*** AWARDS -Best Spanish 3 Student in School (9th Grade) -6 Policy Debate Awards (Medals, Placards, Recognition) -3 Model UN awards (certificates and a gavel) -Ranked 3rd in Extemp. Speech and got 4th (alternative) at Regionals Va. -Academic Competition team went to past regionals. My GPA is pretty low. I’m working on it. My SAT is low; I’ll retake it (aiming for atleast 2200). I’m not all that well rounded. I have passion in music, art, speech, humanities, science, etc. I have 2-3 who would most probably recommend me. I want to be a doctor. 1. What are my chances for Uva? William & Marry? VTech? 2. What can I do to improve my chances? - What kind of SAT should I aim for? - What other extracurriculars, volunteering, etc. should I aim for? 3. If i could pull off a 2200+ SAT, is it likely that UVa would accept me even after my grade drop? 4. Also a bit of an irrelevant question. I don’t want to take Calculus BC next year in 12th grade. To my understanding AP Computer Science would count as math, and I’m interested in taking that instead. Would the colleges mentioned above be okay with that? Or would they prefer I took BC instead?
