What are the requirements to become a high school cheerleader?

Can you become a high school cheerleader even if you don't know how to tumble?

I want to try out for cheer leading in high school, and I definitely have the loud, peppy, and dancing part down (as I do dance myself), but I can't tumble and I'm not the MOST flexible person in the world. I can do a cartwheel and the splits but that's about it when it comes down to actual acrobatics. Could I still become a cheerleader, or would I be behind? Because on a squad of 12-15, not everyone does tumbling 24/7 and such, right?

You wouldn't have a chance on my high school team. But your school might be different. Check with some of the current cheerleaders there to see what they say. Consider trying out for dance team (sometimes called poms) instead.
