What is it like being a physical therapy assistant?

What is the educational difference in a 2-year and 3-year Physical Therapy Assistant program?

  • I'm trying to figure out where I want to go to PTA school and I'm actually in therapy for a knee surgery and my pta recommends a 3 year program because the pre-reqs for a 2 year program are integrated into a 3 year programs curriculum... I'm just curious for other pta students! please help meee.....also I'm looking into sinclair comm. college in dayton ohio! I'm from arizona soo this will definitely be a change!

  • Answer:

All of the programs are actually 2 years. Most people make it three by taking the non PTA classes the first year to make the program easier. That way, you will already have your anatomy and other science/math courses under your belt. If you know the muscles first, you will have and easier time in kinesiology and clinical orthopedics.
