  • Answer:

Yes, it is hard because it is a medical program. Don't let lack of money or being female discourage you. You need to take all the math and science offered in high school. You need to look at some of the schools of dentistry you might apply to and see their prerequisites. Your high school counselor should be able to help, too. Don't let him/her talk you out of this. If you need better grades, this will motivate you. The dental schools I looked up had prerequisite courses you take in college before you are admitted into the school of dentistry. You will take lecture courses and on-hands classes and also have the chance to work on real people with dental problems. That's how you learn. You should talk to your own dentist and get some suggestions. Your counselor or the university should tell you how many people don't make it. Not everyone who doesn't complete the work leaves because they can't handle it. This is an excellent goal. Good luck in making it. You might want to consider working with children, especially those with special needs that regular dentists won't handle - autistic, severely handicapped.. Their parents will be thrilled.
