How can I improve writing speed with my left hand?
-
I'm naturally right-handed, but I'm learning to write with my left hand. I can write pretty neatly after only practicing for a few days, but I still can't write very fast. It takes me a while to steady my hand enough to make the letters neat. How can I improve my writing speed with my left hand? Will I ever be able to write as well with my left hand as I can with my right? Thanks.

Answer:
Yes, lots and lots of practice, most likely years.

If you really want to amp up your speed as fast as possible (which will still be slow, mind you), just go cold turkey. Basically act as if you are left handed, or even pretend that you broke your right hand. That means do as many things as possible with your left hand. It'll build up a lot of strength fast, and you'll be using muscles in your left hand that you never knew you had. (No joke) A more practical approach is to go through the day right-handed, using your left hand whenever you can, but during the night, go left-handed completely. It's not as effective as going cold turkey, but it's pretty effective. You might never be able to write as fast with your left as your right, but you can get really close.

Just write slow. Time yourself, and go, i'm going to write this like the chorus of the song, 5s faster than before, do the same thing each time, but add a line of the song. Soon, you be writing so fast! =) Answer mine? http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090304183449AAvpDuf

Do not lose patience. Try to write slowly first of all therefater practice a lot. Practice makes a man perfect. Write more and more daily. soon you will be getting a good speed. Do not lose the quality and the formation in the desire of a good handwriting speed.

yes you will be able to write with your left hand, eventually. other than actually writing some practice paragraphs daily, there are other things that you can do to improve your grip and speed. mainly, use your left hand to accomplish small tasks which are usually done using your right hand. for example: - 1. brushing your teeth 2. buttoning up your shirt 3. eating your cereal (i hope you like cereal) 4. dribbling a basketball 5. i can't think of anymore :) good luck!

Probably never as good with your left as you are with your right, but you can probably get close. We're genetically programmed to be either or, sometimes both.

use your left hand more and write with it if you have a lot of time ( learn to hold a pencil properly too )
