It is a paradox that depends on your point of view. If you are the pretty bird, get out of bed and see what the day has to offer. If you are a slimy worm, stay in bed with your head covered & don't take any risk.

It's true, the first in line gets the pick, but you just respond next time: "ja, ja, and the second mouse gets the cheese."

It means that the best opportunity is available to one who seeks it out first. This may not always be true. Consider this... The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

the first to rise will be the first one to start there day, which means that they will also get to the worm, or in other terms whatever it is that person is seeking, before the person who sleeps longer.

Have you ever gone fishing and had to collect night crawlers for bait? It's basically the same thing. UV Rays can hurt the earthworm's sensitive covering (hence why they are always burrowed down into the earth) so in very early morning, before the crack of dawn, it is more common to see earth worms towards the surface of the soil. The surface tends to be rather rich and filled with less clay. Hence, if a bird were to be earlier for breakfast in the morning it would in fact get the worm Hope that helps.

it would, but the early bird gets the worm is saying that the one who is there first or gets up earlier in your case is at a better advantage
