How much does a nurse practitioner make a year or an hour compared to a registered nurse.?

a nurse practitioner is a step below a doctor and to become a nurse practitioner i need a masters degree. i really want to become a nurse practitioner because i love to help people and i know that while someone is under my care i know they will be alright. also at the same time i need a nice paying job to support my three kids and husband and myself.

Well where i live an RN can make between 54,000-110,000 with an average of 60, 000. An NP can make between 75-150000 with an average of 90. I am a registered nurse now making 26 hr, but still in skool for an extra year to get my masters. Its a good deal you should go for the NP, if you have the time.

To be a nurse practitioner, you need more than a masters degree. I dont think you realize what a nurse practioner is. Remember...you cant be a nurse practitioner without being an RN first. : ) NP's can work at an institution or on their own. NP's are licensed nurses who may prescribe medication (like doctors) and recommend therapeutic measures, and several other healthcare related issues. The only thing they cannot do is perform surgery. Find more on any nursing website. (Make sure it is either a .org or .edu website).
