How about that Job Corps?

What is job corps like? and how can it help me?

  • Hey okay so i dropped out of high school when i was 16 or 17. i am 19 now. i hated high school. but now i am finally getting off my butt and wanting to do something with my life. i know how homesick i am going to be and dont know if i can deal with it. can i have my own laptop , cell phone? i read a lot of peoples storys about job corps. and a lot of them have GED instead of High school diplomas. why is that? and if any way can tell me a great way to keep staying at job corps because i know how home sick i am goign to get. so thank you

  • Answer:

It really depends on which one you go to. The one I went to in Long Beach, CA is corrupt and infested with immature teens/adults (including staff.) Job Corps is just like High School, but with free healthcare. you can bring your laptop and cell phone, but i think you have to clear your laptop with Security (or at least that's what they made us do at the Long Beach Campus) People op out for the GED because it's faster and people are lazy. You don't have to live on campus, you can choose to be an off-center student where you get to go home every day (I recommend this, because living at Job Corps will drive you bonkers.)
