Teaching assistant job interview written task?
-
I have a job interview tomorrow for a level 2 teaching assistant and have been asked to write a letter to a parent about a child. This is what I have to write about. The following is information on one of our students. Write a letter to her parents to explain the issues we are having in school and what actions we intend to take. Samantha is a year 7 student. She is SA+ (School Action Plus) on the Code of Practice for learning. She is having difficulty interacting with her peers. She is struggling to access the curriculum, however she does not fully engage with her rapid reading and literacy hour sessions. She arrives to the Teaching Assistant late for the sessions and makes excuses not to get on with the work. She tries to stop others from getting on with tasks that they are completing in the literacy and numeracy room. She does seem to enjoy her numeracy recovery sessions and is making progress in Maths. This progress can be seen from the last data collection as she has made a whole level of progress in the last six months. The Progress and Aspiration Leader would like to have a meeting with the parents to try and move Samantha forward. The SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) would like to come to the meeting too. How can Samantha’s enthusiasm for Maths be transferred to literacy skills? I am having real prob emss with writing this letter. please if somebody could help me I would really appreciate the help. Thank you

Answer:
Dear Mr and Mrs xxxxxxxx, As a teaching and support team, we have been reviewing Samantha's progress in school. As you know she is on the School Action Plus register on the Code of Practice for learning which means she is receiving extra help with literacy and numeracy. Samantha seems to enjoy her numeracy recovery sessions and is making progress in Maths, in fact she has made a whole level of progress in the last six months. However she does not seem to fully engage with her rapid reading and literacy hour sessions. The Progress and Aspiration Leader and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) would like to meet with you to discuss the issues we have identified to try and move Samantha forward. We would like to explore how we can use Samantha’s enthusiasm for Maths to improve her literacy skills and her approach to this additional support? Is it possible for you to attend a meeting in the SEN Office on xxxxx at xxxxx? Yours sincerely, etc
