What is the different between a good and teacher?

What makes a great teacher, not a good teacher, a great teacher ?

  • have you ever had a teacher that inspired you ?

  • Answer:

Great teachers are able to think outside of the box and help EVERY child push themselves to reach their fullest potential...even the most irritating ones. Great teachers have clear boundaries between themselves and their students while making their students feel important and as if they really know them (but do not have personal information that shows they know them on a personal level). Great teachers inspire their students to think for themselves and expand themselves into trying new ways of thinking, thinking from another point of view, and how to follow their own path and not the path of others (be independent thinkers and do-ers without judging others).

Yes. My band teacher. He is incredibly energetic. I think a great teacher should know how to have fun, connect with students, have a good sense of humor, not take everything to seriously, have creative ideas to teach (to learn a certain kind of note that we play, my teacher has us skip through the school), and just simply enjoy their job. If they hate kids, don't teach. When I was in 7th grade, every teacher but 2 was old, gave detentions easily, and honestly rarely smiled. But then in 8th grade every teacher was under 40 and consisted of everything above. I think teacher's need to realize that we're kids and some of us have short attention spans. So when you say "Turn to page 80 and read", most of us don't. So yes, star for you!

Someone who doesn't just expect the students to understand what they are saying. Someone who can adjust when they understand a student is having difficulty. A great teacher should also be approachable, so students are comfortable asking them questions, and even talking to them about non school relayed things. A good grasp of the subject is also important, if a student doesn't care much for the teacher, they may end up not caring for the subject in the end. A lot of really good teachers that i've met were substitute teachers. They would always talk about interesting things and the ones in my school all seemed to have really unique personality's.

The great teachers my kids have had have always been prompt in returning papers, tests and projects. Not only have they given a grade, they made comments. Some asked questions to instill a further curiosity in the subject. Some said where they were missing the point or how they could have improved. They were teachers who realized that there are different learning styles and intelligences, so throughout the year they tried to balance things out so that everyone had the best chance to achieve. They allowed the kids to do extra credit assignments or projects because everyone can blow a test by being sick or just having one too many things that week. They also handed out a well defined syllubus or rubric when necessary. Some allowed them to retake a test or quiz because they knew further studying would help achieve the goal of learning the material. They were teachers that remembered that they are not the divine almighties. They could laugh at themselves and apologize and also tell the kids when THEY made a mistake. They knew that although every moment is precious learning time, that sometimes there can be an exception to the rule. Review might have been like the game of jeopardy or things along those lines. My two children were of different abilities and sexes. Often when the first disliked or complained about the teacher and the second had the same one they both were in agreement(as well as with other kids). A great teacher is not necessarily the easiest grader-but one who can try to see each student as a unique individual, Even though they may answer the question differently than may have been expected, they may have had a very different way at looking at things. Also, a good teacher can accept that if there are questions that many get wrong, it very well may have been that they didn't teach it as well as they should and could have. They also provided outlines and and some great notes. Most teachers lecture, and yet most people learn best visually, so if it's NOT in the book and the teacher wants to make sure the student will learn from the lectjuure they'll provided good notes so the student CAN listen a nd not just worry about getting all the notes down and missing other material.

most people have had at least one inspirational teacher i think. My wife is a great teacher (not being biased) shes a brilliant mother type to all the infants and soothes and helps - but she would be hopeless as a teenage teacher. So understanding -going out of your way to help pupils- most important psychology and listening. The art of teaching is to teach entertainingly I think that way the info sticks in the mind if its fun sorry cant really answer your question fully

Ones that make the subject appealing and interesting are the best Just think of the worst teacher possible then think of the opposite The worst being an angry unapproachable one who could not care less about you or the subject
