Teaching in U.S for 4 yrs. Hold B.ed from India. How do I get certified in Florida to get into Public schools?

Graduated in India (B.A with English Major, Sociology/ psychology minor) B.Ed ( Eng & History)Taught in India for 14 yrs. Been in US teaching in christian school in Florida. I want to be a certified teacher.How do I go about? Secondly how do I increase my prospects in the field of teaching or education for a more sound/secure career. What are my chances? Please help.

It's actually quite simple to get a teaching cert. if FL. Contact the Florida DOE online and ask them where to start. Or contact your local school district and complete an application. They will help walk you through it and they are much easier to get in touch with than the DOE. You will need to take a competency test. (Which is a complete joke- you really don't need to know much about teaching to pass this- it is almost completely about high school subject matter) You may need to take a few classes since you got your education outside of the states. i'm not from there but you should be able to google & put in Flordia Public Schools & go to the HR dept. & see what you need to do. Some states you are able to work on a temp. cert. for a year until you get everything together. Good luck
