What are good science courses?

What courses can I teach with Science-General teachable in Ontario (Canada)?

• I'm applying to Teacher's College to teach at the Intermediate/Senior level, and need to pick my two teachable subjects. I have the background from university to qualify me for science (general, biology, or chemistry) or math. Can anyone tell me what high-school courses I'd be qualified to teach with just the Science-General teachable? (ie, would I be restricted from Grade 11-12 Biology without having the specific "Science-Biology" teachable?) Ideally I'd like to make myself as hire-able as possible by covering the most courses that I'd be eligible to teach. Thanks in advance!

  Honestly, once you get your teaching certificate, you'd be able to teach any subject. Your future school board and principal will consider your teachable areas not only by your university coursework, but also through other education, training, qualifications, experience and abilities. This is ever-changing and you should always update your personnel file with HR. For example, although I'm an elementary-trained school teacher in BC, I can speak several languages so I have been put into secondary schools as a modern languages and an ESL teacher even though I have no university coursework in these areas. I also have experience in inner-city schools, so I have been put into Alt Ed classrooms. Likewise, I have met other secondary-trained teachers who ended up teaching in elementary schools. Your teaching career isn't static and can change wildly over the years. So, you will be put into any classroom that HR believes you're qualified to teach. This may vary from school district to school district and principal to principal.
