What are some neat careers in journalism?

What careers are open to those with a major in elementry education and a journalism minor?

  • I am a sophmore and I was researching a variety of careers that i may be interested in. I came across majoring in elementary education and a journalism minor. I know a teacher is one career but what are some others? Please help

  • Answer:

No offense, but what you major in nowadays really doesn't hold much weight to what job you can land. Many employers only care about the fact that you have a Bachelor's Degree in SOMETHING to be hired. That said, a teaching degree can open many doors. Teaching of course is the most blatant career you can nab. Another option could be a corporate instructor, corporate trainer, etc. The journalism minor is really just gravy on the degree if you want to get into journalism itself. Newspaper editors, writers, etc. Television news writing is also a possibility. Really, you can get into many things with a degree of that nature.

With your Education/Journalism combination, you can start writing for a paper, or start teaching. Either way, I suggest you use your skills to write on education for a local paper. If you're teaching at the same time, I'm sure readers are interested on an inside view.
