Getting a job during high school is it hard?

Getting a job at Kumon and Sylvan as High School Student?

  • I've heard of many high school students being able to tutor kids at these places. Will it be easy to get a job at either one of these? I have not worked anywhere before either, so I have no priors. Will this effect it? However I have a 4.00, and I am a high school sophomore in all Honors/AP classes. I have also done a lot of community service in the past year. I'd like to hear from people that have worked at either place before. Also if you have any advice or experiences. What would be the pay? Just minimum wage? Thanks in advance!

  • Answer:

Kumon is not a tutoring learning center. The program is worksheet based, therefore the students will complete worksheets. Most of the people that work there are there to grade the worksheets with an answer book. You are not to actually teach them how to do the work. The pay for a Kumon center depends on a variety of factors and will differ through each location. I am not sure how Sylvan works, but they may require you to have a college degree.
