Any correspondence courses after 12th.

What were correspondence courses like in remote areas in 20th century?

  • I am trying to do some research on the early correspondence courses which I believe were a beginning of distance ed as we know today. Distance ed today has many tech features however, the early correspondence courses were the godfather of today's Distance Ed. The work (research) will be a timeline of the education from early 1900's or even earlier until today. I would also like to include when different ethnic groups were able to join in if possible.

  • Answer:

They were the same as correspondence courses in the city. It doesn't matter where the student was. It was all done by mail. Work would be sent to the student. Completed work was return to be graded. Then more work was sent. At the end, a certificate would be sent but it didn't really have value as a real diploma would. Anyone could advertise themselves as a correspondence school. They not licensed or regulated. They would advertise in cheap magazines and comic books.
