Would I need any other qualifications to be a nursery nurse?

What qualifications do you need to become a nurse?

  • I'm doing a Psychology degree and I've been thinking so much of becoming a nurse only recently and was just wondering what qualifications will I need and how long will it take to become a nurse?

  • Answer:

if you already have your degree in psychology you may want to pursue an accelerated nursing program which is like 1-1 1/2 years and you would get a BS of science Or you may have to go for an associates degree in nursing which is 2 years at a junior college, or a baccalaureate program which is 4 years (WITH the general requirements). For a BS you might have to just take the missing general requirements and apply for the program while inside the school; or if you already attend the school and already have the requirements you might just have to apply and it will be 2 years of straight nursing for a baccalaureate of science degree. Personally it's less stressful to go for a regular BS degree in a 4 year college; you learn more at a steady pace. After you get your degree you will have to go for NCLEX and take the exam to become licensed as an RN.

You need to do a bit of research about different routes into the profession. In the UK it is largely a degree standard requirement.
