How to become an exchange student from the Philippines?

Do I Fail a Grade if I Become an Exchange Student?

  • Hajimemashite kimu-chan desu. (Its nice to meet you im Kim ) Kimu-chan is sorta a nickname i give myself. ^_^ Ok well here today i have a question (obviously) and I want to become an Exchange student and go to Japan. But I'm wonder If i go to Japan does that mean i fail a grade in the high school that im planning to go in (meaning the school that's close to where my house [U.S.] ) Like the school before you get into that japanese highschool that the student exchange program assigned you to. Because that's one of things that i want to know the most which make me wrry sense i already failed one grade :( (which was like 4th grade and there is a reason so don't take me as a dumb person ok XD)

  • Answer:

No, you do not fail. However, unless you are fluent in Japanese, your school might think that you will not learn everything that you need to learn in the Japanese school. Your school also might not accept the credits for the classes that you take. You school requires a fixed number of credits in different subject areas and you might not have enough. You really need to go in and talk to your guidance counselor to get the straight answers for your situation. Are you hoping to go for a semester or a whole year? I have heard of students finishing high school with their peers and doing a bonus year as an exchange student instead of going abroad for the junior year.
