Teachers: How can you tell if a student has a 'crush' on you?

Teachers: how would you react and do if a student told you that he or she has a crush on you?

• I know students crushing on teachers are very common. Let's say if a female student crushes on a female teacher and the student told the teacher about it, what would the teacher do? Would the teacher feel flattered, or scared or what? How would the teacher react and what appropriate measures should the teacher take?

• Answer:

  The teacher would need to distance themselves from the student as much as possible and might even need to have the student placed in another classroom. If others knew about it, the teacher's email might be monitored by the school district. While the teacher might feel flattered by it, there is too much to risk for the teacher's career to have any further contact.
