What can I do with an Associates degree in accounting?

I have an associates degree in accounting, I want to teach now elementary....?

• I just earned my associates degree in accounting and now want to pursue my bachelors in education (preferably in early childhood development like K-4th grade). Is this possible or would I have to start over again with a new associates. I live in Texas, I need advice or has anyone ever gone thru this before?

  Did you take all accounting classes or did you also have some general education classes such as history and speech? If they are all accounting, perhaps 3 or 6 credits could count toward electives. If you have some core classes, they should transfer. I suggest that you check out the website of a college near you that offers elementary education. Check the list of required courses against a list of classes that you have already passed in your accounting class. That would give you a idea about what could be applied to the bachelors program in el. ed. i would suggest that you do not do another associates but go straight to the four year college. If this is your dream, go for it. Just realize that the road to a job is not easy in elementary education, Just wondering. You could go out and get an accounting job right now to start an accounting career. Have you been following any news stories or done any research about the many qualified teachers have been furloughed over the past several years? They did have teaching jobs but were furloughed as school boards across the county struggled with budgets. Larger class sizes require fewer teachers. Schools are cutting programs, spending less on supplies and programs to save money. If more teachers are needed in a district, those furloughed have the right to be called back first before new hires.
