Teachers? Do you get annoyed when a student has a crush on you?
-
I have a crush on my teacher. I mean, i think i do. I find him good looking, and funny, and really really sweet. Of course it is nothing more than a crush (and i dont want anything more) ! I was hoping if someone (preferably teachers) could say if they would mind an innocent crush or would you just find it pure irratating. Also how could i get him to realise that he is my favourite teacher and i really really like him?

Answer:
Crushes are crushes and that's one thing. It's when students flirt and hit on me that I get upset. First of all it's disrespectful to me. It means that you only see me as an object of affection and not as your mentor, your superior, your teacher. Secondly it's embarassing. Teachers work hard to get students attention to focus on their studies. When all students want to do is flirt it makes things awkward and it makes us question our abilities as teachers. I've never approved of students hitting on me, and I highly discourage it. You would be endangering your teacher's job firstly, and secondly you are belittling the role they play in your life. Let your teachers teach. Have a crush all you want, simply DO NOT act on it.

Each year that I teach, I learn more and more about the personal values that students don't seem to have and also those of teachers who allow some things to go unchecked and before long, the teacher is accused of some untoward act against a student, has lost their job, respect in the community and license to ever teach again. I believe that 'crushes' will continue to happen. As long as boys look at girls and vice versa. The problem is having a crush and keeping it to yourself - and eventually, maturity will intercede and you eventually grow up and think back and wonder how in the world did you feel that way about your teacher. I don't get annoyed - perhaps because I am older now and my 8th grade boys don't look at me as anything other than their teacher (smile) . I do remember when I first started at age 21 and taught 11th and 12th graders. Yes, I was very annoyed - afraid - and also concerned because I was so young, I didn't even expect my own feelings to come into play. It can be a very dangerous thing if you are not taught what to expect and if you are not serious about your job as a teacher. Students will always have crushes on their teachers - as long as the students don't take the crush any farther than their own minds - everyone can continue to play their respective roles without danger of losing jobs, or causing any other mishap. As far as YOU TRYING TO GET HIM TO REALIZE ANYTHING.....leave it alone. Just speak , smile and do your work...If I were you - I would not engage him in anything else because you say it's just a crush - but the end of your letter - you are now talking about something more. JUST LEAVE IT. For both your sakes....

I am now trying to become a teacher, and even if I haven't really started teaching yet, I can say I would only become bothered if the student was outwardly flirting with me. Like REALLY flirting with me. But, otherwise, a harmless crush, like you said, seems fine. I remember, when I was in eighth grade, I had a crush on my algebra teacher. I think he noticed, because I'd always blush and get a little tongue-tied around him, and I don't think he minded. I think he thought it was flattering and a little cute, but, of course, it was all innocent. Most students are somewhat attracted to their teachers and want to be liked by them. My advice to get this teacher to like you (in a healthy, student-teacher relationship) is to be a good student. Don't be a know-it-all, just get good grades, be polite, be quiet, have fun and joke around when it's appropriate, and listen to the teacher. That's what any teacher wants, really. Good luck!

uhmm.i probably would not let them know you like them. because 1. that is illegal and 2. they are doing their job. do not get them fired

It's flattering, not annoying, although it could become annoying. Enjoy! http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/p/police/dont_stand_so_close.html Why don't you get this ringtone and arrange to have it go off during class? Another idea would be to give him a present. It could be something as innocent as an apple, or it could be a wrapped box with used panties!
