Confused about my career.. Nursing?

I am confused on what I want to do as a career. Teaching or Nursing? Why? Thanks!?

  • Answer:

Go into nursing, and after a few years go into teaching nursing! I know that sounds like I am being goofy, but I'm serious. Nurse Educators make serious money. Nurses are in such high demand, schools are popping up all over. I work in a hospital, and I know a few nurse educators. They are all very happy in their fields, and they all drive super nice cars :)

I would suggest shadowing a teacher and a nurse to see what you like best. My mother and a few family friends are nurses and maybe one out of five like there job. There are a lot of diffrent areas to work in with nursing, tons of jobs, great pay and you can move wherever and find a job. Nurses have a stressful a physically demanding job. Nurses make better money than teachers. Teachers have a great schedule ecspecially if you have kids and they get the chance to get to know and bond with their students. Nurses often have too many patients to really form a relationship. They both are great careers. Talk to and shadow some nurses and teachers. I thought about both and decided to get my Masters in Speechy and language therapy. You can always get you bachelors in nursing and then if you want to teach later go back and get your masters in teaching. However to get a masters in nursing you have to have a bachelors in nursing.

Both excellent choices, both need people because for decades only women fulfilled these jobs, now many women pursue other careers. Both positions require knowledge, patience and compassion. Nursing requires a bit of a stronger stomach. Have you ever worked with many children, even at a camp, etc.? and know you enjoy doing that? I would find a nurse and a teacher and ask them their opinion of plus' and minus' for each job. Nursing also has come down to doing a lot of paperwork not actually hands on, and I know many frustrated with this. So talk to some people who are there right now, and good luck, you'll know the right decision when you reach it.

Actually, only you can answer that after research on both careers. You could "teach" nursing. Both are good choices. However, both have such wide possibilities. I've included a website (sources) for each type of job. Regarding "Teaching". There are so many choices of teaching - so the website I included (The Occupational Outlook Handbook online) has different types of teaching - ages, subjects, etc. I hate to say it - but your best bet is to research both types of jobs and talk to a lot of people that hold either types of jobs. I hope that helps.

some people may say you should do nursing & some may you should do teaching. if you love to stand beside & help people who really needs help of others when they are sick you can choose nursing as a career. if you love to distribute your knowledge to others you can choose teaching as a career. Choosing your career also depends on your mark of your report card & what subject you like. I hope this might help you.

The attraction to both professions show your personality and desire of wanting to help others in a professional manner. There is no reason that in college you can take courses in each field. Perhaps that will lead you to favor one instead of the other. I know of a good number of people who became both teachers and nurses. At one time my former school emphasized Health Careers and we had over 15 teachers on our staff who were also RNs It is a good idea to prepare yourself if possible for as broad array of future occupations as you can.
